Cover Unveiling: Canary by Rachele Alpine

Hey Blogger Buds,
I'm a tad sick, and I have my first gigantic load of homework to do, so I'm just going to through a really pwetty cover at you. Don't forget to add on  Goodreads!
Here's the summary:

If she stays quiet, it will destroy her. If she speaks out, it will destroy everyone.
Kate Franklin’s life changes for the better when her dad lands a job at Beacon Prep, an elite private school with one of the best basketball teams in the state. Similar to Jandy Nelson’s The Sky is Elsewhere, Canary is told in a mix of prose and verse.

Not my usual genre, but I'm intrigued.

Aaaaaaannnnd the cover:

Gorgeous, right? Very retro.

I love the colors. It's not something you see on the shelves very often--it sticks out.

There's a birdy! And it's crying! The only bit of blue on the cover, too.

The basketball is a nice touch, telling you what the deal is--a basketball team--without making you think that it's a book about a basketball team. Which it obviously isn't.

I Am a Bad Blogger...So Here's a Cover!

Hey Blogger Buds,

I feel like a really bad blogger. *shakes fist at self* My Sunday posts are kind of lacking. I'm proud of myself that I'm still pretty much maintaining my Tuesday reviews and Thursday meme, but I've got so much else going on in my life that I can't think about Sunday posts, and take the time to write them.

So instead I'll just leave you with two things:

1) My writing is going wonderfully. Remember my post on goals a little bit ago? Well I just reached my goal of 3,375 words for the second time, and earned my second episode of TV. It's very satisfying, in multiple ways.

I just finished this insanely emotional scene. Like, emotional-hurricane type.

2) You probably saw it already, but the cover of Crown of Embers was released! You know, Crown of Embers. The sequel to Girl of Fire and Thorns. Oh, you forgot what Girl of Fire and Thorns looks like? Here's a reminder:

Cover Love: Good Things Come in Threes

Often, I showcase covers that I'm swooning over one at a time, when they come out. But there have been so many amazing ones cropping up lately, and I can't keep up with them. So I've got a nice, pretty post for you. Three covers, one of which got a ton of buzz, one of which didn't, and one of which no one even heard of.
Good things come in threes, right?

A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger

You guys definitely heard of this one. It's kind of been everywhere. I'm not such a contemp lover, but I might as well give it a shot, and that cover is really captivating.  It's got the shiny sunny friendly beach thing going on...until you see the model's expression. In the words of Marlin: Good feelings gone.
This one's out on June 5th. So it's an...erm...light summer beach read?

Renegade by J. A. Souders

This one's a dystopian/fantasy. Princess/Messiah type of girl lives in an underwater kingdom. Meets a "surface-dweller" and discovers her life is lie. Etc, etc.
Anyways, gorgeous cover. Water, garden, pretty dress, random rose, long, lovely hair that I was kill for.
Swimming to a shelf near you sometime in 2012. I know, I'm helpful.

The Land of Stories

Notice how I left out the author up there? It's cuz I'm a total Gleek, and Chris Colfer is pretty much one of the most amazing people ever. He acts. He sings. He's proud to be gay. (Notice that I didn't put "he's gay" down, because gay/straight doesn't make up who a person is! But that's a rant for another time...)
And he writes.
Yes, Chris is writing this himself. He's not Hilary Duff, with a ghost writer. And he's not Tyra Banks, writing about "Tookie" (or something).
And I know that, like everything else that Chris Colfer does, this book will be amazing.
I'm ridiculously excited for The Land of Stories. I think it's an upper MG, but I don't really care. And isn't that cover amazing? The illustrator is Brandon Dorman, but I'm not sure if he did the cover. Comparing it to some of his other works (like Fablehaven), I think he did.
The cover has a wolf. And a palace. And a toad. That's wearing a suit. And princesses on the sides!
You can show your Chris Colfer love on July 17th. And really. Who wouldn't want to show their Chris Colfer love?

Sorry for missing another day. That's going to be happening a lot more often, as classes get rougher, finished drafts become more real concepts, and Glee keeps airing. (Oh Em Glee, I am the only one who is in absolute heart with Beth?) (And I am the only one who wants Kristin Chenowith to change her mind and come guest star...in the same episode as Idina Menzel?)

But today is not about TV. It is about books. A book from Most Awesome Author Ever, actually.

Ready for the customary cover analysis?

• It's blue. And purple. And, in my opinion, those colors always look perfect together.
• It has a whole face (sorta), not just an eye, like Graceling (even though the eye is focused on) or a mouth, like Fire.
• Gorgeous border. I love those flowers, and the pattern at the top and bottom.
• The keys! *moans* The keys! Initially, I was upset that the book didn't feature a weapon. (They've covered most of the basics already. What was I expecting? A rifle?) But, upon closer inspection, I've decided that I really don't want to be hit in the face with one of those. *shudders* *stares at spikiness* *shudders again* I'm kind of scared to see what the locks those keys match look like. And what do those locks keep...?
• *studied key heads* I wonder what significance they'll be...?
• Overall, I think this cover is more complex that Graceling's and Fire's. I think because it was white, Graceling seems to me like beautiful simplicity. Fire is a bit more detailed because of the coloring and the two-part weapon, but Bitterblue features THREE things, which makes it seem more detailed to me.
• Upon closer inspection, I've noticed that there is a second eye hidden behind some flowers. And the two eyes appear to be different colors....*speculates*
• My one tiny issue: I hate that the fonts don't match on the books. They're all the same font, but they're all different sizes and stuff. >< Still heart Bitterblue, though. Alone, it's perfect.

Okay, that's all. I'm in love. Amazing cover. One last thing before I say adios for the evening. All three covers together:

Only Puck Can Pull Me Back

I was so good about it, not breaking my hiatus, but I just had too. For Julie.

*gasps* You forgot?
Oh, phew, you remember. But I'll refresh your memory, anyway. I wrote about a million and seven blog posts squeeing over Julie's Iron Fey series.
Still doesn't ring a bell?
For the one or two of you who don't quite remember, I reviewed the Iron Daughter HERE and the Iron Queen HERE. I also squeed a ton, but you can see a list of all my Julie posts HERE.
Anyways, there was a bundle of faerie awesomeness released today, involving two of my favorite fey.


First up, Puck! Because I hearts him. Summer's Crossing, an e-novella, was released today. Get it FREE HERE, or, for you Kindle users, buy it HERE! Haven't added it on Goodreads yet? What's wrong with you? It's right HERE.
I love Puck, as you well know, and I'm putting off reading Summer's Crossing to share my next bit of awesome news with my awesome followers!




Next up, Julie released the cover for the IRON KNIGHT!!  And I can barely COnTroL mYseLF!!!!!!1 (Yes, that "1" was very cheesy, and it was on purpose.) I was a bit scared and nervous to see the cover, but I ADORE it! I'll cut to the chase, now.

Cover analysis?

• "Soulless. Banished. But never forgotten." Definitely impossible to forget.
• The model is a bit young, and I thought Ash had silver eyes, but this cover almost maybe a little bit made me consider possibly converting to Team Ash for a bit. I'M SORRY, PUCKY!!!!
• It goes so perfectly with the rest of the books!
• I'm going to cry. It's really, really the end. No more Pucky after this book is out. I'm having second thoughts about wanting to read this one.
• I don't know why the Ice Prince is wearing a coat. Oh, and him being an ice prince isn't the reason. I figure the snow would have looked at him and melted. Kind of like me. Or the Wicked Witch.
• I can't look at this without my breath catching, and I'm not exaggerating here. I love this cover so much!
• It's BLUE! I need to keep Ashy-poo* around more often. He goes with the furniture. :P
• Ash+Meghan+Eternity=Meghash! Hellooooo, I want to see the two cover models do a shoot together! (I wonder if they know each other? Maybe they're friends. Maybe they're more than friends...?)
• He fits the other covers sooooo well! I'll show you!

And, for awesomeness's sake:

Cover Reveal: Inheritance!!!!!

I. Am. Freaking. Out. I was scrolling through my Goodreads shelf, hoping to find some more unveiled covers, and there it was.
With a title.
And a cover.
And a summary.
And a release date!
*squee*

Inheritance, the fourth and final book in the Inheritance Trilogy, will be released on November 8th of THIS YEAR.

Cover Reveal: Jessica Rules the Dark Side

Hey Blogger Buds,
So I love Beth Fantaskey's books. To remind you, she wrote Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side and Jekel Loves Hyde. And, looking at my WO Cover shelf on Goodreads, I noticed that on Friday the cover was revealed for JGtDotDS's sequel! It's called Jessica's Rules the Dark Side and it comes out next January. That's SUCH a long wait!

Now that that's out of the way...

• The cover model is so pretty!
• So is the dress.
• The font matches the first book's and it's  so nice!
• I'm trying to find synonyms for nice and pretty!
• I REALLY want to see Lucious's face! I have no complaints with what's already seen ;)
• Look carefully at what's in Jessica's left hand. I believe that that is a stake...
• You know those weird splotchy things your camera kinda picks up? Those dots are here too, but this time it's awesome!
• They look so happy :). Jessica looks happy and wonderstruck, and Lucious has that satisfied, calm, enamored look on his face. (I love the word enamored.)
• The background is so interesting! It looks like a mansion....
• Overall Cover Love!

Okay, so I love the style of all of Beth's covers. They all feature a girl and (most of) a boy standing beside each other.

The two Jessica books look gorgeous beside each other! I love it when books in a series come out so lovely together!

It makes me really want to see Lucious's face!

• She's really pretty, if you ignore the, ya know, frightening lump on her back. Don't you want to know what that lump is?
• That braid looks almost vicious. It curls like a certain serpent we all know...

Cover Reveal: Passion by Lauren Kate

I know it's not sunday. Ask mee if I care. *waits for you to ask* What makes you ask?
So I was just on goodreads, you know, acting all casual, looking for a book in my to-read list, and as I skimmed I noticed a cover I didn't recognize, so I was all, "Huh, I wonder what book that is" So, all casual-like, I scrolled back to see the title and it's like...
DUDE, THAT'S THE COVER FOR PASSION, FALLEN #3!!!!!!!!
So, without further ado for those of you haven't seen it yet...




*swoon* Ain't it gorgeous? Don't the three books look awesome? Let's do an analysis thing:

• The cover model is gorgeous, first off. It appears Luce's hair has grown back out...
• What a gorgeous rose. Just so simple and pretty, goes well the dress.
• Speaking of the dress, I love the three outfits. And the third is no less gorgeous than the first two.
• Pose: Tragic, romantic, attractive. I'm feeling really repetitiousand extremely repetitive right now at this moment.
• The background. The first was a pretty simplicity, the second barrenly,but I think the third backdrop is my favorite. That ground, those clouds, this sky? *swoons again*
• Pretty lettering! In all the covers, there are some simple little things on the covers that are consistent. The hook on the A (or R), the other one on the top of the N, the who thing!

*breathes* I'm done. It's pretty, and the first time you can see the model's face. But...wow.

Passion comes out June 14, 2011 (not so long ago, this year!)  Next book, Rapture, comes out in 2012.

OMG OMG OMG FOREVER COVER!!!!!

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, the cover for FOREVER by Maggie Stiefvater is out!!!!
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!
She just posted it around 3 hours ago, and it's so awesome!
The whole Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy has awesome covers.

Isn't it awesome? Time for a cover analysis...

• It's going in to summer/fall now, so Christopher Stengel, the awesome designer, continued with the matching colors. Shiver, which took place in winter, was blue, Linger, for the spring, was green, and now Forever, which is awesome Autumn, is red!
• In the first two books there was a blood stain over the I. I was wondering about that, since Forever has no I, and instead Christopher put it in the O, very tastefully.
• I love the whole forest idea that's sort of framing the picture. Shiver shows mostly bare branches, and Linger shows lots of leaves. Now Forever shows something in between, as the leaves become a beautiful color outside our windows and begin to fall. Forever shows semi-bare trees.
• Shiver depicted Sam-wolf. Linger depicted Grace-girl and what I think is Other-wolf, since Sam is human. Forever flips it around, showing us Grace-wolf and Sam-boy.
• You can see the tension in the characters. Sam is slowly approaching Grace-wolf, and she's standing there, watching him carefully, her hackles up.
• Red lettering! This goes without saying, but the final copy of the book is going to have red lettering, not boring black!
