Hey Blogger Buds,
I was very distressed today to read on a blog some terrible news. It was even sadder to only see it on one blog.
As some of you may know, Dianna Wynne Jones, one of the most fantabulous fantasy authors this planet has ever been blessed with, lost her battle to cancer yesterday, at 76. The author of the Chronicles of Chrestomanci and Howl's Moving Castle, will be sorely missed, I'm sure.
Although I didn't read all of her books, Howl's Moving Castle and The House of Many Ways were lovely books, but an absolutely lovely author, and I feel privileged to have had the chance to read her books.
I send many hugs to her family and those who knew her well.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all: I know it's weird and stalkerish that I'm on your blog, but I thought I'd just drop by and say hi since I haven't talked to you in awhile.
Second: I've never read any of Diana Wynne Jones's books, but I loved the movie adaption of Howl's Moving Castle. Her ideas were genius. But I had no idea that she died until I read this blog post, and it's depressing that it hadn't been such a big news anywhere else. I know she was a brilliant author, and I believe she deserves more, even if I haven't read any of her books. In fact, I think I'm going to read her books (particularly Howl), starting now.
I've never read any of Diana's books but it is so terribly sad that an author died and only few blogs have made note of it! I hope to read her books in the future.
