Welcome! I'm Riv Re, teenager and aspiring author. I post Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays are for book reviews; Thursdays are for a weekly meme called "Character Dolls," which showcases character depictions I made online; and on Sundays I just wing it.
This blog is for my writing misadventures, my reviews, ramblings, and rants. My favorite genre is fantasy, so expect a lot of the unusual.

Warning: I've got an awful sense of humor. Don't blame me if you keel up and die from reading the jokes I crack.
Notice: I hold no responsibility for any deaths caused by previously mentioned jokes.

Enjoy and happy reading!

RIP Diana Wynnne Jones

Hey Blogger Buds,
I was very distressed today to read on a blog some terrible news. It was even sadder to only see it on one blog.
As some of you may know, Dianna Wynne Jones, one of the most fantabulous fantasy authors this planet has ever been blessed with, lost her battle to cancer yesterday, at 76. The author of the Chronicles of Chrestomanci and Howl's Moving Castle, will be sorely missed, I'm sure.
Although I didn't read all of her books, Howl's Moving Castle and The House of Many Ways were lovely books, but an absolutely lovely author, and I feel privileged to have had the chance to read her books.
I send many hugs to her family and those who knew her well.

Peace and love,

ETA: Maggie Stiefvater, author of wonder, wrote DWJ a letter a while ago, and reposted it on her blog today, right HERE.

  1. Riv! *waves* How are you?

First of all: I know it's weird and stalkerish that I'm on your blog, but I thought I'd just drop by and say hi since I haven't talked to you in awhile.

Second: I've never read any of Diana Wynne Jones's books, but I loved the movie adaption of Howl's Moving Castle. Her ideas were genius. But I had no idea that she died until I read this blog post, and it's depressing that it hadn't been such a big news anywhere else. I know she was a brilliant author, and I believe she deserves more, even if I haven't read any of her books. In fact, I think I'm going to read her books (particularly Howl), starting now.

  2. I've never read any of Diana's books but it is so terribly sad that an author died and only few blogs have made note of it! I hope to read her books in the future.

  3. A wonderful tribute, Riv Re. I didn't know Diana's work, but I'm sure it was amazing. She obviously touched your heart.
